The Northern Areas of Pakistan are formed from the amalgamation of Gilgit Agency,the BaltistanDistrict And the States of Hunza and Nagar.The Northern Areas covers an Area of 72,971 km² (28,174 mi²) and has an estimated population approaching 1,000,000. The Disputed state Of Kashmir is also Part of Northern Areas.The region is home of some of the world’s highest Mountain Ranges of the World.The main Rnges are Karakoram,Hindu Kush,Pamir And western Himalayas.The second highest peak of the world K-2 and the the most feared mountains in the world Nanga Parbat also lies in these areas.These mountain Ranges are also known as The Roof of the World.Northern Areas of Pakistan also called Switzerland of Pakistan.
